If you are like me, you are constantly on the look out for simple ways to legally get your hands on (good) new music for free. Amazon’s Artists to Watch feature is my most recent discovery, helping me to discover new artists effortlessly.
Of course, there are loads of services similar to this, but Amazon’s is one of the rare ones that actually lets you download the songs and not only stream them.
At the time of writing there were songs from artists and bands such as: Banks, Roc Marciano, Kongos, Temples, Whiskey Myers, Lydia Loveless and London Grammar just to name a few. Most of these I had never heard of even though I pay attention to new artists –which is the point. In other words, if you want the biggest names in pop music you should skip this feature, but if you enjoy the process of discovering new bands and a bit less time consuming you will love this. Let’s face it, spending hours reading reviews on Pitchfork –although it is quite interesting– isn’t necessarily the best use of your time.
Visit the Amazon Artists to Watch section to start sampling songs and downloading the ones you like.
Please note that to actually download songs you will need to login your Amazon account. If you don’t have one yet, signing up is a breeze, and you’ll most likely be amazed by the variety of products available at this site. You can literally find everything at Amazon, from electronics to hair gel.
How about you? Do you have a website of this type to recommend? Like I said, I’m always looking for new ones. Please leave a comment if you do.
